Apple Becomes the Top Computer Seller, Beats HP

It is a reality that Apple is in the list of most profit-earning manufacturers over the past few years despite havinga low market share (due to its high prices).

According to report by Canalys, Apple has sold more computersystems than any other manufacturer in the world.

According to report, Apple sold 21 million systems in the second quarter of 2012, up from 13.1 million of the same quarter of 2011 and experienced a 59.9% increase in sales.

Compared to that, HP sold 13.5 million unites, down from 15.2 million of the same quarter of last year. Lenovo however, experienced a good increase in sales byselling 13.1 million units in this quarter, up from 10.3 million.

Apple captured 19.4% of the market-share in Q2 compared to the 12.5% and 12.1% of HP and Lenovo respectively.

One of the biggest reason is the launching of Retina Display Macbook which has a jaw-dropping resolution of 2800 x 1800.

Apple already earned huge profits by its Macintosh line of computers as early as 2010 when Apple had hold only 9% of the market shares but earned 35% of the market’s profits mainly due to the high prices of its products.

Video sharing websites have nowadays become a strong platform to highlight social evils. However, footage featuring kids, political dissidents in oppressive regimes, or victims of sexual assault needs to be handled with care. An annual report from international human rights organization WITNESS titled Cameras Everywherestates, "No video-sharing site or hardware manufacturer currently offers users the option to blur faces or protect identity". It lets you smudge all faces in an uploaded video, thus ensuring complete anonymity for the subject(s).

To use the effect on an uploaded video, go to the Video Manager section in your YouTube account, then click on the Edit button next to the video you want to blur. In the page that loads, switch to theEnhancements tab at the top, then click on the Additional features button below the video. Finally, click the Apply button under the Blur All Faces option. Once complete, you can delete the original uploaded video. However, note that the technology hasn't been perfected, so make it a point to carefully go through the modified version before publishing it online.

A Cell Phone Tracker:A Warrantless cell phone tracking sky-rockets in US

A report released by US cell phone companies shows a disturbing spike in the number of requests by US law enforcement agencies for cell phone information. Even more disturbing, most law enforcement agencies do not provide a proper warrant.

The new information reported by the New York Times shows that US cell phone companies responded to an overwhelming 1.3 million requests from law enforcement officials to provide cell phone data. The results show a dramatic yearly increase, suggesting an increasing reliance and willingness of law enforcement to use the information at will.

The numbers show anincrease in the number of information requests –from 12per cent to 15 per cent – over the past five years. Interestingly enough, cell phone carriers can now turn a profit by charging per request, and have hired their own round-the-clock lawyers to deal with the possible legal problems that might arise .

For example, the number of requests fielded by AT & T alone has tripled over the course of the last five years, responding to about 700 a day. Thirty of those requests are deemed ‘emergency cases’ which do not require a warrant.
